Words of Wisdom from Our Seniors for a Happy Mind

May 26, 2020 | Blog, Videos

Even through such difficult times, the people we care for never cease to amaze us. We have been sharing words of wisdom on our social media with direct quotes from the seniors on a weekly basis. The sense of accomplishment and pride it gives to our seniors has been invaluable to their mental health to share some of these quotes they have crafted from their years. During the current COVID-19 pandemic and the difficulty it has placed on having your loved one quarantined in their senior living community, we thought it might provide you with some motivation if we shared some of our favorites.

A Little Bit of Thanks Goes a Long Way

Appreciation is so important to our company culture and, evidently, it is equally important to our seniors. Robert, from our Spring Hills Morristown location, is a man of few but very impactful words. His bit of wisdom that he wanted to share is three simple words: “Say thank you.” In today’s world, especially, appreciation and gestures of gratitude have so much power. We think we can all incorporate a bit of that wisdom from Robert into our daily lives.

You Are Never Too Old to Dream

As part of our holistic approach to senior living, we love to incorporate an independent lifestyle that encompasses the message of our next Words of Wisdom. Susie, from our Poet’s Walk Henderson location, wants to remind everyone, “You are never too old to dream.” Our memory care population can be so wise and we agree with her wholeheartedly. Thank you for the wisdom, Susie!

Be Mindful of What You Say and How You Say It

Words have so much power. More than the words themselves, though, is the way in which you say them. Catherine, from Spring Hills Singing Woods, offered the following quote as her bit of wisdom, “Be mindful of what you say and how you say it. Words effect people and you don’t want to be misinterpreted.” We couldn’t agree more. Especially in today’s times, words hold so much power and we think that is a great mantra to live by.

Hold Your Head Up

As the classic song goes, you’ve got to keep your head up. This is probably the most important thing to remember during the trying times we all find ourselves in. Mary, from our Spring Hills Morristown location, wanted to share to, “Hold your head up high!” Challenge yourselves to follow her advice every day during these difficult times. It will surely have a major impact on your mental health.
