Spring Hills Senior Communities is proud to share this TV coverage from News 12 and this article as seen on mycentraljersey.com about Senior Fitness Day. It was also printed in the Home News Tribune and in the Courier News.
Fourth-graders from MacAfee Road School brought bowling, wheelchair races and more to the senior residents at Spring Hills Somerset Assisted Living on Jan. 26.
The Physical Education and Health teacher, Alyson Samarel, helped the 30 to 35 children lead the seniors in wheelchair races, bowling, floor hockey, parachute games, balloon volleyball, music fun, arts and crafts and table games. This event is in honor of Spring Hills Somerset’s Fitness Day as part of January’s “Get Healthy Resolutions”. They also enjoyed pretzels and water together.
From students and seniors to care givers and teachers, everyone had a great time today. 101-year-old resident Mary Mupo bowled a lot of strikes when she bowled with student Emerina Hawkins. Some of the students shared their thoughts on the day. Lindsey Heyman, one of the students, said that she enjoys helping people. Christina Chiles said, “I love playing with the seniors.” Student Jordan Biggins said, “Doris (Raynor, resident) was so nice and friendly and she gave me a hug.”
