Spring definitely sprung when the students from the Cherry Hill Alternative School joined the senior residents and staff at Spring Hills Cherry Hill Assisted Living to start their community garden and tower gardens on Tuesday, May 17, 2016. In the community garden, they planted a variety of tomatoes and peppers, cucumber, zucchini, squash, eggplant, basil, oregano, parsley, mint, thyme, sage and rosemary. The Tower Garden will grow 10 different herbs and is stationed in the community courtyard as well as inside the building. All of the vegetables and herbs will be used in the regular cooking for Spring Hills’ residents.
The Community Garden is a part of the Spring Hills’ Signature Touches Program. The farm-to-table approach, which provides nutritionally balanced meals to the residents, was designed to keep everyone eating right.
