Seniors Celebrate Earth Day at Spring Hills Cherry Hill and Mt. Vernon

April 27, 2018 | Blog

Spring Hills Cherry Hill Assisted Living:
Three local teenage boys and seniors rolled up their sleeves to celebrate Earth Day at Spring Hills Cherry Hill Assisted Living. A day early on Saturday, April 21, together they planted flowers, vegetables, herbs, bushes and a gardenia tree. Everything planted will be used for the Spring Hills Farm-to-Table program. For example, the lemon balm they plant will be used as mosquito repellent, in fruit salads, for aromatherapy and more. The residents will use the lavender to make their own all-natural lotions and soaps as well as used in aromatherapy. The vegetables and herbs will be used in the kitchen for the resident’s meals. In addition to the lemon balm, lavender, and the gardenia tree, they also planted basil, lettuce, tomatoes, cabbage, a bush and a variety of flowers.

Spring Hills Mt. Vernon Assisted Living:
The seniors at Spring Hills Mt. Vernon Assisted Living celebrated Earth Day one day early by planting will plant hydrangea bushes and flowers in their garden. Everyone was given a straw hat with a brim to get them in a spirit as well as block the sun. After they were done planting and getting their hands dirty, they enjoyed lemonade and cactus-shaped cookies.
