The residents of Spring Hills Mount Vernon Assisted Living began the celebrations for National Assisted Living Week (NALW) on Sunday, September 11, 2016. Families of residents and children in the area were invited to come and have lunch with the residents and staff. Just as lunch settled down, a Wii was set up with the iconic Just Dance game and a dance party began. The day also included face painting, a special toast to NALW with cake and sparkling cider and a performance by Elvis-impersonator, Brian Rudolph. During the celebration, a week-long Pedometer Walking Challenge was launched. Every day during NALW the residents tracked on a big board how much they’ve walked that day and it culminated in a award ceremony on the following Saturday. The top three residents with the largest numbers were awarded baskets of goodies.
