POET’S WALK SARASOTA RAISES MONEY AND AWARENESS TO END ALZHEIMER’S

Sarasota, FL (November 4, 2022) – Alzheimer’s Disease affects 73% of Americans ages 75 or older.  It is one of the top 10 reasons for death in the US.  At Spring Hills, our Spring Cottage Memory Care Environment is making a difference.  We see possibilities rather than memory loss.  As specialists in memory care, we believe everyone’s life is a special story. In our Spring Cottage Memory Care Environments and Poet’s Walk Spring Hills Memory Care Communities, to honor that story is to join those with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or other forms of memory impairments where they are in their story of life.  Our holistic approach goes far beyond supervision. Our goal is to encourage their abilities, joining them on their journey and support the Alzheimer’s Association.

On Saturday, October 29, 2022, the team at Poet’s Walk Sarasota participated at the 2022 Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The team sponsored the photo booth at the start/finish line to connect with everyone who participated.  The team was made up of associates, family members and even so residents and it was truly a great time for everyone!

In the days leading up to the walk, Poet’s Walk Sarasota, hosted “Auto’s for Alzheimer’s”.  They had 23 classic cars and awarded trophies to 1st in show, 2nd in show and 3rd in show.  To make if fun for the residents, they even voted for their favorite associate car.  Nurse Skye Fisher was the winner with her Mustang.  The fun filled event included two food trucks, face painting, a bounce house, resident made wreathes for sale, a DJ and Car Show Announcer.  To help raise money, the team also hosted a 50/50 raffle.  The winner won gift baskets donated by Poet’s Walk Resident Advocacy Council members. As a result of their fund-raising efforts, the Poet’s Walk Sarasota Team raised a little over $1500 for the Alzheimer’s Association.
