Debby Kirchner, Executive Director, Spring Hills Middletown
What does it take to be successful? Making a difference! Deb knows what she does makes a difference and that’s what keeps her going. She says, “I love the residents, it is that simple!” Deb has been working in healthcare for over 30 years. She started as a caregiver, working and going to school at the same time. From her first job as a caregiver, she knew she was doing what she was born to do – work with seniors. Deb graduated with a business degree and worked many years in long term care as a business office manager, later as a staff accountant and for the last 8 years, she has been on her journey as an Executive Director.
As much as Deb loves the residents, she also loves helping people grow personally and professionally. As an ED, she been able to do this many times and considers that to be one of her greatest accomplishments as an Executive Director. She said, “My joy being in the community has helped me to be successful.” Success in her mind could not have been possible without having a stable team. She has many tenured front-line associates and three tenured managers that add to the community’s success. She continued to say “I’m most proud of my team for creating a community feeling for people when they walk through the door. It feels like home.” Many of the community’s new move ins are referrals from current resident families which is the best kind of referral.
“I love Spring Hills because it feels like family. I got that feeling from the very moment I started.”
Working for a company that feels like family and being inspired by the people she services helps her get through the tough days. Deb’s mom is also a source of her inspiration. She is a retired nurse and always worked hard helping people when they needed it the most. Goal oriented, Deb is not done learning and growing personally and professionally. Deb aspires to become an Operations Specialist. When Deb is not at the community, she enjoys spending time with her beautiful family.
